So Many Shades of Red

This new painting is from a collection of many photos, and my stellar memories, of sunsets at our last place in Washington, PA. We had a sizable chunk of acreage, and the view to the west was umimpeded. I have so many glorious sunset photos that it was difficult to choose just one…I think I’ll just keep painting more! The reds in this one really seemed to shout as I was slapping them down, seeming too bright – but, at the finish, the shades of red threading through the composition hold all the angular sky and landscape shapes together.
